Like each of the wines in the Rock River portfolio,this Zinfandel is a model of balance. Avoiding the occasional excesses of sweetness or alcoholic heat that can plague examples of this varietal, this wine is full of bright, lifted red fruits with a tiny hint of exotic spice in the background.

The color is more scarlet and the nose is pure raspberry, cinnamon candy, mint and vanilla. There is good size to this wine but it is not a monster, with a nice ripeness and spicy undertone all the way to the finish. The obvious choice for this wine is some sort of smoked meat , but it would also work great with pizza or a plate of gnocchi with an oxtail ragu."~(Winery Notes)
